"The notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function"
Adept
It took me a solid 9 months to finally nail the sound I was going for with this piece. I used step recording for the drum parts. Went through a ton of different versions before landing on this one. Even the ending was a last-minute tweak 'cause the original just wasn't cutting it for me.
The Strings
Took a week off work and rented a whole string section—cello, violin, viola, and double bass. Spent the week layering real instrumentals to create the symphony tracks. Threw in a deep synth for that extra richness. Never doing it again; it was a grind. Could've used tech to get the same sound, but wanted to do it the hard way at least once. Check out the full orchestral version in Bandcamp's VIP center.
The Solo
Ditched a guitar solo last-minute and went with a triplet rhythm section instead. Curious about the solo? It's still up on YouTube; Link available here https://youtu.be/N4gOFMdwRJI.

Hex
This piece took about the same nine months only because I would put it away for a few weeks at a time then bring it back. I almost didn’t include this one, but something about it made chicks move uncontrollably and has become a favorite amongst the demographic. This is also the track I saw analytical data on listeners pulling out to early at around the same spot of the song due to repetition. This track and the data I received from it is what has me revamping my writing style for instrumental music. On a side note the beginning bass line I brought to the band Primary years ago, we played it twice as a show intro, the drums were inspired by those performances. The band would break up before we could ever make anything of this piece.

Envy & the Reinterpreted
Untitled in A
Envy is the piece I would call my guinea pig track, because it’s so short and full of different range dynamics I would use it as a test piece for almost everything. This was also the first track that I started working on when I got back into recording music. it had been 15 years since I did anything with Music. Back in 2005 I was discouraged by discovering that someone had ripped off a track of mine from myspace and included it in a really shitty short film on YouTube, Back before Youtube was Google. I had no recourse whatsoever other than traditional means of getting a lawyer seasoned assist when I didn’t even know who to send it to. So I stopped doing Music, until the summer of 2018 when uploading a video I received a restriction Notice stating I did not have a license to do so, and it referred to the Music in the background. That would be what is known today as content ID made by Youtube. Now that there was protection for musicians my love for Music returned almost immediately. But it had been 15 years almost since I’ve done anything on the recording side of things. So I thought to myself “just start writing it’s not like anybody has to hear it” I decided to start doing a cover of one of my own songs entitled “Untitled In A” written and recorded on a Compaq Presario with an AMD processor in 1998. A piece that can be found on SoundCloud. That’s where envy comes from it started out as a remake of that song and ended up blossoming into what it is today.
The Recording
Over 127 versions exist of this piece. The baseline you hear was cut 127 times back to back and one sitting during session recording. And during that time I would come up with brakes that I felt just comfortable doing in real time which restructured the song a little bit but I’m glad I’m happy with it. the actual drum tracks are recorded in mono with the symbols and stereo, the mono was done to facilitate the spread of the rest of the tracks. A technique I’ve never done before and worked out here.

Isolation
Isolation was done during the winter of 2019 January to be specific, and one weekend I came up with this track and would later use samples from my friend Tess that I cut back in October 2018. This track has the least amount of time spent on writing and production 36 hours almost while the others have months attached to them. And this one is the most loved of all the tracks which goes to show you no matter how much time you spend or don’t spend it doesn’t matter.
The Recording
And this recording you can hear everything is distorted, and in the final mix everything is pushed to the limit of Raul distortion. I don’t know why but find this to be quite a meditative piece, as I’ve been contacted by those music therapy professions about this piece. It would go on spark “The Isolation Sessions” Which would in one year receive more streams and attention than the album from which it originated from, out four years.
